Beauty Therapy at Ardgowan Hospice

James Watt College, June 2010 James Watt College have been involved in an innovative partnership with Ardgowan Hospice Greenock since March 2008, offering Beauty Services to patients with life limiting illness. SVQ Level 3 Beauty Therapists and Nail Technicians offer manicures, pedicures and facials on their work placement day following conciderable training by the college and the hospice to adapt treatments to suit patient needs. The partnership has ben awarded a SLIP from HMIe and proved to be a major success with the college and the hospice gaining a greater insight into what each does for the local community. Beauty Therapy Treatments help the patients feel refreshed and relaxed with improvements in self image and confidence. The students gain important new skills in client care, confidentiality,working within a healthcare setting and being more self aware of the rewards gained from working within the local community.
