PeTAPETA Education Resources -  Education is at the very heart of our work, and we are committed to helping teachers convey lessons of compassion within their prescribed subjects. Teaching pupils to have empathy for other beings is essential to raising kind, compassionate citizens. In learning to respect and care for animals, pupils become empowered to take responsibility for their actions. They also apply the concepts of respect and kindness toward animals in their own lives and help build safe and caring communities.

Poppyscotland's Education Project - Poppy Scotland produces a free range of educational materials that can be used in a variety of subject areas. For the first time they have made this material available to and relevant for the college sector. The materials available include posters, DVD’s and teaching notes.  There is also a national poetry competition, which this year has a category for college students.

The Poppy Scotland pack would also be useful for students looking for organisations to support through fund raising. Perhaps they could even run an event for Poppy Scotland. Guest speakers and tours of the poppy factory can also be arranged. There are even virtual poppies that can be planted and other useful fundraising aids.

Marvel - a webiste on comics, movies, TV, videos, games, news and the rest!


MindMeister brings the concept of mind mapping to the web, using its facilities for real-time collaboration to allow truly global mindmeisterbrainstorming sessions. Users can create, manage and share mind maps online and access them anytime, from anywhere. In brainstorming mode, fellow MindMeisters from around the world (or just in different rooms) can simultaneously work on the same mind map and see each other's changes as they happen. NESTA - Our enterprise resource toolkit contains tried and tested methods for teaching enterprise skills to creative individuals who are thinking about setting up a business.
The Hot Potatoes suite includes six applications, enabling you to create interactive multiple-choice, short-answer, jumbled-sentence, crossword, matching/ordering and gap-fill exercises for the World Wide Web. An alternative is Quedoc.

Delicious is a Social Bookmarking service, which means you can save all your bookmarks online, share them with other people, and see what other people are bookmarking. It also means that you can see the most popular bookmarks being saved right now across many areas of interest. In addition, search and tagging tools help you keep track of your entire bookmark collection. An alternative resource is Diigo.

A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate pages and leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too. An alternative resouce is Wallwisher.

Go!Animate is a free online animation tool that enables everyone — no artistic ability required — to create their own animated stories and share them with the world. An alternative resouce is XtraNormal.

PhotoStory - create slideshows using your digital photos. With a single click, you can touch-up, crop, or rotate pictures. Add stunning special effects, soundtracks, and your own voice narration to your photo stories. Then, personalize them with titles and captions. A range of options for education, from Digital storytelling to showcasing student work. An alternative resource is Microsoft Moviemaker.

CamStudio is able to record all screen and audio activity on your computer and create industry-standard AVI video files and using its built-in SWF Producer can turn those AVIs into lean, mean, bandwidth-friendly Streaming Flash videos (SWFs). An alternative resouce is Wink.

TED - David S Rose Profile - David S. Rose is a split-screen legend to the world's entrepreneurs.
