Learning Resources

The Repository for Scotland's collegesrepository-icon

The repository holds learning and teaching resources in a range of subject areas which have been developed for colleges in Scotland. These resources include: tutor and student resources; formative assessments; assets (e.g. slides, images, video clips) and links to web resources.

You can view, download and create links to any of the resources. You can use these for any educational purpose with learners registered with your college. You can use the resources in their current form, take extracts from them, adapt or repurpose them, as long as the licence conditions of use are respected.

What types of resources can I share?

You can use the repository to share any resource which you think would be useful to other college practitioners. The repository can accept any digital format but remember the user will need to have the relevant software to view your resource. You can upload your resources as individual files, or you can package related files and add them as a complete set. To obtain a depositor account contact the repository administrator.

How widely are my resources shared?

The repository supports different levels of sharing. You can choose to share resources with just the college community, or more widely.

Open collection
We have recently created an open collection which will be searchable by all. This collection will use Creative Commons licensing to ensure that resources are clearly identified for sharing and re-use. If you wish to add resources to this new collection please contact the repository administrator.

How do I access the repository?

You can access the repository directly at the log in page using either your existing college authentication (Athens or Shibboleth), or using a login obtained from the repository administrator. Only staff can access the repository, but you can give students links to view individual resources.

Searching from college VLEs

Moodle and Blackboard plug-ins are also available which enable you to search the repository from within your VLE.  Check with your college VLE administrator if this service is available at your college.

Further guidance and training

If you would like to find out more about using the repository you can contact the repository administrator for further help and advice. Scotland’s Colleges can also offer both practical sessions and on-line training. This can be done on an individual or group basis, as a one-hour refresher or as a more in-depth workshop.

To arrange training please contact the repository administrator to discuss your requirements.
